You’re Doing It Wrong: Covering Under-Eye Bags

ESC: Doing It Wrong
I am going to be straight with you: Looking well-rested, particularly when you're tired, is not going happen without doing something about it.
If you've had a particularly rough night (we've all been there), chances are it's going to show on your face. Read: harsh, puffy eyes and dense, dark circles.
Under-eye bags are notoriously difficult to mask...but they don't have to be. If you ask celeb makeup artist Suzie Kim, who happens to use the same tip as supermodel Miranda Kerr, there are a few simple things you can do to expertly conceal your circles.
Save the Heavy Eye Cream for Bedtime: "If you use a regular eye cream right before makeup application, it can make concealer cake," warned Suzie. According to the pro, there's a time and a place for traditional eye cream: Still use it but just restrict luxury eye cream, like Algenist Genius Ultimate Anti-Aging Eye Cream, to your nighttime routine. This way you'll be delivering a deep hydration while you sleep so that skin isn't completely parched when you wake up.
Try an Eye Roller: Even if you do moisturize properly at night, you can still wake up with puffy eyes and dark circles (particularly if you're lacking in the sleep department). To instantly tighten and smooth, Suzie swears by an under-eye roller, like Airelle Age-Defying Eye + Lip Treatment, which has a lightweight formula. "Using this in the place of a cream in the morning will prevent flaking and make it easier to conceal dark circles prior to makeup application," she shared.
Don't Forget to Refrigerate It: "When things are cold, it helps to instantly depuff and constrict the eye areas, especially in summer," the expert revealed. What the pro does is pretty low maintenance—she simply rolls it on under the eye and lets it dry while she does eye makeup first. Once shadow and liner are done, the makeup artist goes back and covers the area with concealer for undetectable coverage.
Swipe It on to Freshen Up: What if your makeup starts to cake halfway through the day, you ask? "Sometimes I need a product, especially on a hot day, to refresh my under-eye makeup later in the afternoon," she shared. To remedy, she simply swipes the same roller over her makeup, taping it dry with fingertips. "This will quickly alleviate any caking, keep imperfections concealed and keep swelling down for the rest of the day," she swore.
