Sarah Jessica Parker’s New York City Ballet 2014 Fall Gala’s Pleated And Embroidered Mary Katrantzou Fall 2014 Gown.

Since being tapped as a vice-chair of the New York City Ballet board, Sarah Jessica Parker has been intent on courting the fashion industry for the organization. Her latest project, which has choreographers teaming up with designers like Carolina Herrera, Alexander McQueen’s Sarah Burton and Thom Browne, debuted at the season’s opening gala last night. For the event, the actress slipped into a blue pleated and embroidered gown from the Fall 2014 Mary Katrantzou collection.
The choice was fitting as Kantrantzou was one of the designers tapped to team up with a choreographer for the night’s event. The chosen frock was the opening look from the designer’s London Fashion Week show. The show itself came as a surprise to many as it featured no digital prints, a staple of the designer up until that point.

Unlike the runway style, the Sex and the City star’s garment does not feature a high neck. The difference is subtle but there. But of course the eye catching component of the look comes in the printed panel that, similar to that of a table runner, goes from neck to toe. There is a matching panel in the back of the gown.
To round things out, the actress chose a pair of black heeled boots from her own SJP line as well as Fred Leighton jewelry. The small touches were all she needed to set off the ensemble with it’s vivid print play and skirt pleating.

Personally, I love the way the top is really fitted and then flares out for the skirt and pleating. The long sleeves and close neck make it age appropriate but the proportions show of that Parker still has an amazing body. One day SJP should give a class on age-appropriate dressing.
What do you think of the look? Does SJP still live up to her stylish ways or should she have opted for something else?
